The only reason this score wasn't higher was because while Sonic himself looks great, the background is a tad lacking and the angles are not as refined. Additionally, I see you corrected the animation error with the placement of the buckles on Sonic's shoes from the inside back to the outside where they belong. The way his body squished and his legs cross are much better as well. If he were relaxing in a chair, of course his elbow would touch the armrest! Very, very good. The arm drawn bent to touch the armrest as opposed to curving awkwardly in the air was a great insight into how the character would actually gesture. The way you drew Sonic's quills fit with the chair much better than the original and his winking eye looks natural and less derpy. Technique: Your technique got 3.5 stars because wow your ability to detect the issues with the original image and correct accordingly to create a better overall image is amazing! Specifically, the angle of Sonic's head and arm have the great improvement from the original. Originality: For obvious reasons, originality only got 2 stars. Vision: I gave vision 3 stars because while this was based on an existing image, your posing for Sonic was a vast improvement. Wow, I gotta tell you, this is quite an improvement on the original screenshot! When I first saw the redraw, I assumed it would be pretty similar to the original but you clearly have a better understanding of the character's anatomy and angles than the animators did! Funny thing is that once I did this and I left it lying around, Sonic X screenshot redraws started popping up everywhere, and some really cool ones at that. XD If the animation was more like that of episodes like 26 and 38 more often, I think it would have been a lot.better looking? xD Ah well, I still love Sonic X. Sonic and the gang often look really weird in a lot of the scenes. At the time, I didn't notice it being done with Sonic X, and I thought it would be fun to do just that, because, well, the character animation wasn't always a very strong point in Sonic X. I had noticed many Sailor Moon screenshot redraws going around and I thought it would be fun to try it out as well. Here is the original screenshot, taken by TeamArtail: sta.sh/01yjwgjglozd I enjoyed drawing Sonic all kicked back like this. The way his arm stuck out in the original also bugged me a bit, so I rested his elbow on the chair's arm. XD It was a pain to try and get it to look okay, though. w I tried to make it look like Sonic actually had his foot on the desk whereas in the original, it looks like it's floating. Backgrounds and objects aren't really my forte at this time (in fact, after I inked this and went to color it, I ended up deciding to fix some of the lines digitally because they were sloppy), but I hope this still looks okay. So it will become individual posts after you scroll down this one long one.A screenshot redraw that I drew a while back and colored recently. November 25th, 2018 (An update from the future)īy the way, this first post was a long post- kind of a mistake I made when I started the thread. I feel that the backgrounds I made early on in this thread were not all up to the way I saw them then.Īdditionally, I would like to give a small reminder that I don’t do background commissions unless I bring it up, or if I do, it’s outside this thread.įebruary 2nd, 2020 Lil’ reminder for newcomers- WELCOME! And this is NOT a request thread, sorry about that! I have not uploaded every background or overlay onto my drive, just the ones that I like. “1” from both options are for backgrounds/overlays I haven’t done much with, such as changing the colour of it or just cropping it out, while “2” is for backgrounds and overlays I create out of the ones they have…Īdditionally, all outdoor backgrounds (as in, streets and nature) are all in “Outdoor backgrounds” under “Modern Day Backgrounds” regardless of whether it only fits modern-day. Under each main folder, there are two folders listed as: The link to my drive of backgrounds and overlays is here, and you can also find it on my forums profile.Īn explanation from a post I made earlier (way down bottom) is copied here just in case you don’t understand the categorization of the backgrounds and overlays:
